iCloud

JotDay prioritizes user data and privacy. All user data is stored locally on the user's device.

When iCloud sync is enabled, data is stored in the user's private iCloud space. JotDay does not have access to this data and cannot retrieve it.

Special Notice

DANGER

Due to Apple's privacy and security policies, the following actions may result in data loss. Please proceed with caution!

  1. Logging out of your Apple account in Settings

  2. Disabling JotDay's storage permission in SettingsiCloudApps using iCloudShow All

These actions will cause Apple to clear the local data associated with the original account. Ensure all data has been synced to iCloud before proceeding. Otherwise, unsynced data will be lost if you switch back to the original account or re-enable permissions after restarting.

When Does Sync Occur?

After activating a membership, you need to restart the app for iCloud sync to begin.

Once sync is activated, JotDay will automatically choose the best time to sync based on device conditions (network, battery).
If you reinstall the app, it will retrieve your membership status automatically. After confirmation, you will need to restart the app to activate iCloud sync.

The initial sync duration depends on the amount of cloud data. It may take longer than usual. Please keep the app in the foreground and wait patiently.

Common Sync Issues

If syncing is not working properly, please check the following:

  • No Apple account is logged in under system settings
  • JotDay's iCloud storage permission is disabled
  • iCloud storage is full
  • Data conflicts between multiple devices due to version differences – update to the latest version
  • Network issues affecting synchronization

If the issue persists, please contact me.

Multi-Device Sync

Log in with the same Apple ID used for the App Store and enable iCloud sync. Once enabled, data will sync automatically.

Important Notes:

  1. All devices must be on the same app version. Different versions may cause sync failures due to data structure changes.
  2. If syncing is not working, try force-quitting and restarting the app.
  3. During iCloud syncing, duplicate records may temporarily appear. Keep iCloud sync enabled, and they will be automatically resolved once syncing is complete.
